Baptism

"...The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."  - 2 Corinthians 5:17

United Methodist Belief about Baptism

Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into Christ's holy Church. We are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. All this is God's gift, offered to us without price. At First UMC, we baptize people of any age and by sprinkling, pouring and by full immersion.

When can I get Baptized?

In the United Methodist Church, we baptize people of all ages, from infants to 100 year olds! When children are presented for baptism, the parent(s)/guardian is answering the baptism vows on behalf of the child promising to raise the child in the Christian faith. Older children, teens, and adults are able to answer the vows on their own. We beleive in ONE baptism because we believe that God's grace was sufficient, therefore, we do not redo or rebaptize anyone. Instead, we offer an opportunity to remember your baptism and be thankful.
