This month’s mission focuses on the Johnson County Food Center. August is UMC-Burg’s month to staff the Johnson County Food Center. Volunteers are needed to work inside the Center. Beginning August 2, we need 4-6 volunteers for all Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-4:00 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the online form below. In addition, you may contact the Office Manager, Andrea Whitehead, to sign up at (660) 747-8158.
Another way you can help The Food Center is through donations. The Center is having problems with the supply chain. Harvesters, who is the primary source for supplies, shared that it may only be able to provide about 50% of what the pantry is accustomed to delivering.
Additionally, the demand for services is increasing. For instance, in January the number of households that were served was 304 and has gone as high as 444 in April. Just in May, the pantry served 380 households, which was 876 individuals.
To make a monetary donation, send a check to UMC-Burg with Food Center in the memo line. You can also donate items. Put them in the designated boxes in the church atrium.
